Frye Boots have been around since the 1800’s when the Frye company first started making their harness and engineer boots. The boots were worn by American soldiers during the American Civil War and even in the early 1900’s for the World War. Frye boots were originally boots that were made from heavy leather and came in black.

These shoes became very popular during the sixties when a lot of motorcycle riders used to wear them. The riders used to these shoes because the leather was thick and the boots had shafts that came up to the knee. This protected the rider from getting burnt by the motorcycles hot exhaust pipe and engine block, and also were good protection for the legs in case there was an accident.

Harness boots are made from thick black leather and can have a height of 10 inches to 38 inches. They have a squared toed bottom and the design attracted a lot of buyers because of this old school look. They also do not have adjustable straps at the ankle but instead have four non adjustable straps held together by two metal rings at the sides of the ankle. Two straps come up from the sole to the ankle and are connected to the ring.
