Inexpensive road trip?

We live in Ohio & would like to take an inexpensive road trip sometime in December. We normally go to North & South Carolina [during the summer] but, it wouldn’t be as fun going in December because we couldn’t get in the ocean. SO.. Does anybody know of somewhere fun & not too expensive that we could go? We don’t want to drive anymore than 16 hours. Things we like to do for fun: Camping, hiking, skiing, museums. We are not the partying type so we aren’t interested in bars or anything like that. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
