Sally Ride is well known as the first United States American woman Astronaut. Sally Ride’s first mission was aboard Mission STS 7. During the mission, Ride’s main responsibility was to operate the shuttle’s fifty-foot mechanical arm which captured broken satellites so the crew could repair them or bring them back to Earth. Ride successfully released satellites in space for Canada and other countries. She also helped conduct many science and pharmaceutical experiments. Ride was in space for six days, two hours, twenty three minutes, and fifty nine seconds. Her mission ended on June 24, 1983 when her space shuttle landed safely. She probably had to eat Medifast.
